The Rotary Club is a service organization that brings together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards in all vocations.

The Rotary Club of Uganda, like other rotary clubs around the world, helps society in several ways:

#1 - Community Service.

Rotary clubs in Uganda often partner with other organizations and engage in various community service projects, such as building schools, health clinics, and clean water wells. They also engage in activities like tree planting, providing educational materials, and healthcare equipment, and running health camps for both urban and rural communities.

#2 - Economic and Community Development.

The Rotary club work on building self-sustaining economic development projects such as vocational training for youth, small and medium-sized enterprise development, and microfinance programs.

#3 - Disease Prevention and Treatment.

Rotary club in Uganda focuses on various health and disease-related programs such as the eradication of Polio, Malaria, and HIV/AIDs and providing medical equipment to public health facilities.

#4 - Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Rotary Club also supports peace and conflict resolution initiatives by promoting understanding and respect among cultures, religions, and races.

#5 - Water and sanitation.

Provision of safe water and sanitation facilities to communities, schools, and health facilities

Rotary Club of Uganda is divided into several sub-clubs, also known as Rotary Districts, across the country. These sub-clubs are organized based on geographic location, and each district is governed by a District Governor who oversees the activities of the clubs within the district.

The number of rotary districts in Uganda varies from time to time, it has been around 33 districts. Each District has around 10-15 clubs under it. Each club is autonomous and self-governing, and each club is responsible for its own fundraising, community service projects, and activities.

Some of the Rotary Districts and clubs in Uganda include:

  • Rotary District 9211: Covering North East part of the country
  • Rotary District 9212: Covering East and South of Uganda
  • Rotary District 9213: Covering the Western part of the country
  • Rotary Club of Kampala
  • Rotary Club of Mbarara
  • Rotary Club of Jinja
  • Rotary Club of Mbale,
  • Rotary Club of Kasese
  • Rotary Club of Gulu
  • Rotary Club of Tororo

These are just a few examples, and there are many other Rotary clubs in Uganda that are doing great work in their communities. These clubs also participate in international rotary projects, such as PolioPlus and The Rotary Foundation, which help to improve the lives of people around the world.

It's worth noting that, the number and location of Rotary Clubs may change over time, so it's always best to check with Rotary International or the Rotary Club of Uganda for the most up-to-date information on the clubs that are currently active in the country.

Some of the recent activities were the Rotary and Rotaract e-Clubs of Uganda Global - 2022 Rotary Cancer Run in the suburbs of Kololo, Kampala for the 11th edition of the event. Rotary International President, Jenifer Jones, flag-offed the run.

Another project was to enhance sanitation among residents of the slum areas of Namuwongo, the Rotary Club of Kisugu Victoria View launched a charitable campaign called "Global Grant" which involved building drainage systems to alleviate flooding issues during the rainy season. Upon completion, the project will provide community members with access to clean water and improved sanitation facilities.

The Rotary Club of Uganda is part of a larger international organization that partners with other Rotary clubs in the region, governments, and other organizations to achieve its goals. Rotary's approach is to build lasting relationships, collaborations, and partnerships to maximize the impact of its service projects and programs.
